All commercial and residential contractors must obtain a Contractors License Bond except for a small subset of handyman labor in Oregon. The Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) issues each license to only one business.
In addition to a Surety bond, contractors must obtain General Liability insurance. You will also have to purchase Workers' Compensation insurance if you have employees.
CCIS is a licensed construction bond and insurance agency, providing Oregon contractors with all types of bonds and General Liability and Workers' Compensation insurance.
Residential endorsements will enable contractors to work on smaller-scale projects. This includes single-family homes, apartment complexes, or condos with four or less levels, as well as individual units in a high-rise building. There are four residential endorsement classifications for contractors in Oregon.
This applies to contractors who want to work on non-residential, commercial structures of any size. They may build or renovate massive commercial properties. For example, parking garages, fast food restaurants, hospitals, and shopping malls. Five commercial endorsements have been made based on experience and scope of work.
Specialties that have different certification or licensing processes and requirements in Oregon include home inspector, locksmith certification, and restoration work.
